Professional book editing by a published author
From developmental editing to final polish your manuscript gets the
Attention of an editor who has written 30+ books of her own.
WHY IT MATTERS
The gap between a good draft and a published book
You’ve poured months, maybe years, into your manuscript. You’ve read it so many times that the words blur together. You know something isn’t quite there, but you can’t name what it is.
That’s exactly the gap I close. As a novelist who has been through the full arc of writing, revising, submitting, and publishing dozens of times, I know where manuscripts lose readers and how to fix it. I won’t just tell you what’s wrong. I’ll show you how to make it right.

What is developmental editing and do I need it?
Developmental editing addresses the big-picture elements of your manuscript plot structure, character arcs, pacing, voice, and narrative technique. If you’ve finished a draft but something feels “off,” and you can’t identify what, a developmental edit gives you the roadmap to your strongest version.
How much does book editing cost?
Every manuscript is different. After our free Discovery Call, I send a custom proposal based on your manuscript’s length, complexity, and the editing it needs. My rates align with Editorial Freelancers Association standards for professional developmental editors.
What is the difference between developmental, line, and copy editing?
Developmental editing focuses on the story itself. Line editing refines your prose at the sentence level for flow and voice. Copy editing handles grammar, punctuation, consistency, and style. Most manuscripts move through these stages in order: big picture first, technical polish last.
What genres do you edit?
Literary and commercial fiction, memoir, creative nonfiction, children’s literature, poetry, essays, and business books. I’ve published in all of these genres, so I bring a practitioner’s perspective, not just an academic one.
How long does the editing process take?
A manuscript assessment takes 2–3 weeks. A full developmental edit takes 4–8 weeks depending on length. Line and copy editing are usually 3–5 weeks. I give you a specific timeline in your custom proposal.
