Coaching & Guidance
From first draft to published author with a guide who knows the path
Book coaching, author development, and publishing guidance from a Fulbright scholar who has been exactly where you are.
Why Coaching
Writing a book is a long, often lonely journey
You don’t need someone to write it for you. You need someone who has walked this road before, who can keep you moving when you’re stuck, tell you the truth when you’re too close to see it, and celebrate the moment you finally hold your finished book.
That’s what a book coach does. And when your coach has published 30+ books and mentored writers for two decades, you’re not just getting accountability. You’re getting a map drawn by someone who knows every turn.
Ways to Work Together
Support that fits your journey
Tier 01
Book Coaching (1:1)
Ongoing, one-on-one support through the writing process from concept development to completed manuscript. I read your pages, give honest craft feedback, help you work through creative blocks, and keep you moving forward with regular sessions and
accountability.
This is the most comprehensive coaching relationship. We meet regularly, I read your drafts
between sessions, and you have a dedicated guide for the entire journey from first chapter
to final page.
Tier 02
Author Development
Beyond a single book I help you build the craft skills, creative habits, and
professional knowledge to sustain a writing career. Whether it's your first novel or your
fifth, there's always a next level to reach.
Author development coaching is for writers who want to grow across projects, not just
finish one. We work on your process, your voice, your relationship with writing itself.
Tier 03
Publishing Guidance
Traditional, self-publishing, or hybrid, I've navigated all three paths as an author. I help you understand your options and prepare the materials you need: query letters, book
proposals, agent research strategy, and the promotional planning that turns a printed book
into a published one.
If you've finished your manuscript and don't know what comes next, publishing guidance
gives you a clear path forward.
Tier 04
Writing Retreats
Intimate, multi-day retreats combining structured writing time, craft workshops, and one-on-one coaching. Past retreats have gathered writers on North Carolina's Outer Banks for focused, transformative creative time away from daily life. Subscribe to our newsletter to be notified when the next retreat is announced.
What working together looks like
A thoughtful, one-to-one process designed around your book, your ambitions, and the writer you want to become.
We map your goals
Our first sessions define where you are, where you want to go, and the milestones between.
Every coaching relationship is built around your specific book and your specific ambitions — not a generic program.
You write, I guide
Regular sessions keep you accountable and moving. You send pages, I give honest, craft-focused feedback, and we problem-solve the blocks that stall most writers before they reach the end.
We navigate the industry
As your manuscript takes shape, I help you understand your publishing options — and prepare the query letters, proposals, and strategy you'll need to move forward with confidence.
You cross the finish line
The goal isn't just a finished manuscript — it's a stronger writer who knows how to do it again.
You leave with your book and the skills to build a career.
WHY IT MATTERS
A practitioner's eye across every genre
I’ve published in all of these genres myself, which means I bring a writer’s instinct, not just an academic checklist. I know what a memoir needs that a thriller doesn’t, and how a children’s book earns its simplicity

What is book coaching?
Book coaching is ongoing, one-on-one support during the writing process. A book coachprovides accountability, craft feedback, and guidance from concept to completed manuscript helping you write a better book while becoming a stronger writer.
What is the difference between book coaching and editing?
A book coach walks beside you during the writing process, offering ongoing support as you draft. An editor steps in after the manuscript is complete to evaluate and refine what you’ve written. Some writers benefit from both at different stages.
Who is book coaching for?
First-time authors who need structure, career writers reaching for a new level, and anyone navigating the publishing process. If you’re writing alone and want an experienced guide, coaching is the answer.
How much does book coaching cost?
Coaching packages are flexible and tailored to your goals and timeline. After a free Discovery Call, I recommend a format and share pricing that fits your project. Every engagement is custom I don’t offer one-size-fits-all packages.
Do you offer writing retreats?
Yes. I organize intimate writing retreats that combine focused writing time, craft workshops, and one-on-one coaching. Subscribe to my newsletter to be notified of upcoming retreats.
